AN advert for a racist right wing organisation has been placed metres away from Welwyn Hatfield Council’s building – prompting cross-party condemnation.
The sticker for the National Front claims “anti-racist is a codeword for anti-white” and has been thrown up on an electrical box near Welwyn Hatfield Council’s WGC base.
As well as being close to Campus West it is near Oaklands College.
Labour WGC councillor Ben Yetts has been left “disgusted”.
He said: “I don’t know what to say to be honest, I thought we were past that in the 21st century.
“I’m deeply upset to hear about this, I’m deeply shocked too.”
Leader of the council John Dean said: “We are not expecting the National Front to make much of an impact in Welwyn Hatfield, they never have done before.
“Obviously we are very against extremist politics whichever way it comes.
“With the National Front they are not a particular problem and we do not want to be involved with them.”
He added: “It would be interesting to see if they put candidates up in the next election, as [in an election] everything is decided by the ballot box.”
